One of the biggest adjustments from high school to college for college students can be time management. In high school students do not usually have as many assignments and activities going on. Also in high school students have their parents to help remind them about when to turn in assignments, what time practice is, etc. On the other hand college is a time of freedom from parents. It is where your student becomes more independent and has to make his/her own decisions. College is very busy and it can become difficult for students to juggle everything.

Part of becoming a college student is learning to do things on his or her own. It is so important to let your student make their own decisions and realize things for themselves. A lot of times students have trouble keeping track of school work and outside of school activities. So for example, your student may forget a homework assignment or not study hard enough for a test resulting in a bad grade. These are learning opportunities for your student to realize their mistakes and adjust accordingly.

Although time management can be a hard thing to grasp for some college students, it is such an important life skill.
