Panhellenic life at the University of Arkansas is a wonderful place to begin building lifelong friendships, find leadership opportunities, engage in philanthropy and community service events, and excel academically. Our Panhellenic Association is made up of eleven wonderful NPC organizations that work to mold its members into women with purpose and values. The Panhellenic women at the University of Arkansas are held to high standards in all areas of life. The Panhellenic G.P.A. is higher than the campus average, and over $100,000 was raised last year by these wonderful organizations.

There are wonderful women in all of these sororities, and each is unique in their own way. The friendships made in these sororities are not for four years, but a lifetime. There are two more sororities coming to the University of Arkansas: Delta Gamma is coming this fall and Alpha Gamma Delta is coming in Fall 2017!
Formal Recruitment begins on August 12th with recruitment orientation and will end on August 20th with Bid day at the Chi Omega Greek Theater. Recruitment week will consist of open house day, philanthropy day, sisterhood day, and preference day. The last day to register for fall recruitment is Friday, July 15th at 5 pm and if interested, your student can register online at uagreeks.uark.edu. After your daughter has registered, she will receive more detailed information about recruitment.
While joining a sorority can be expensive, the experiences and memories your daughter will gain make it priceless. Included in the dues are food, activities, and usually a house to hang out in. Fortunately, there are great ways to offset the cost of these expensive dues, through scholarships and payment plans available in order to make it more accessible to all women who want to participate.
There are recruitment counselors called Gamma Chis available to help all the new potential members through the recruitment process. A Gamma Chi is someone who serves as a positive role model for the PNMs and encourages them to be themselves and choose the house they are comfortable in. The Gamma Chis are there to listen and support the PNMs throughout the entirety of recruitment week.
With Panhellenic Recruitment coming up, encourage your student to go through if they are interested in being a part of the Greek community. Remind them that the best outcome will come from remaining positive and keeping an open mind. If your student has any trouble, remind them that the Gamma Chis and Greek life staff are there to help her in any way possible. The most important thing to keep in mind for your daughter is that her new chapter is the place that will be her home away from home for the next four years of college, and the friendships will last a lifetime.
