Hello Parents,

Guess what? I am sick again! I know, I know, I was just sick. I swear my immune system is not set up for college. I feel like I was sick two weeks ago. How did you guys even deal with me? Its times like this I wish I knew all of mom’s secret nasty cures. Don’t worry too much about me though. My friends told me I should go to the Pat Walker Health Center on campus. It is on the corner of Garland and Maple. It is also right across the street from Silas Hunt Hall (the place we started my campus tour at). I can call them at (479) 575-4451 or go to health.uark.edu anytime to make an appointment. They are also open every day except for Sunday. They have many different services that will be beneficial to me during my four years here.

The RazorCARE Clinic is the simple clinic where I can get quick diagnosis and treatments for any of my minor illness (like now, I have a cold). I don’t need an appointment to go because walk-ins are welcome, but it would be quicker if I did have one. There is an Allergy, Immunization and Travel Clinic where I can get all the allergy shots and immunizations I need before I study abroad and go on our worldly vacations. They even have a Women’s Clinic mom! They offer an all female staff that provides gynecological services. How cool is that? Now I don’t have to go searching all over for a woman doctor, and I don’t have to go home should I ever have questions about my body. There are so many things that the Pat Walker Health Center offers. Some more services they offer are a registered dietician. They can help me start a plan to eat healthier and more balanced meals. There are the counseling and psychological services, illness and injury treatment, laboratory services, lifestyle improvement classes, men’s health, minor surgeries, nutrition consultants, orthopedics, substance abuse prevention, tuberculosis screenings, X-rays, and much more. I think it is safe to say that my health will be in good hands. Just so you know, the lab can run all kinds of tests on me to figure out what mysterious illness I bet I have next month. Oh one more thing, I know you are already thinking about money, but the people at Pat Walker told me that I should just bring proof of my health insurance when I go in for my appointments. Any charges that my insurance doesn’t cover I can pay right then and there or they will just add it to my student account so it can be paid along with my tuition. Also, if I didn’t have insurance, they offer student health plans at health.uark.edu/insurance. This university really has everything here to set me up to succeed. Don’t worry about me too much. I promise I will be ok. I bet after I see the dietician my immune system won’t struggle so much.

Love you,

Your sickly student
