There are many resources available on campus if your student needs a little help academically. These resources can be found at the Center for Learning and Student Success (Class +), located in many buildings across campus. The center for learning and student success offers tutors, writing support, supplemental instruction, study tips and tips to handle stress.

Tutoring is offered for many classes and majors and can be either face-to-face, online, or CHAT tutoring which is a shorter version of online tutoring.  Three types of tutoring sessions are available: one-on-one, one-on-two or one-on-three based on the student’s preferences. Tutoring sessions are usually 50 minutes long and you can walk in without an appointment, but appointments are preferred. Appointments can easily be scheduled online at razortrack.uark.edu.

The writing center provides free one-on-one tutoring assistance at any stage of the writing process. Students can meet and work with their tutor in person or submit their paper online for assistance. You can schedule 30-60 min tutoring sessions online. The writing center is an amazing resource and is so helpful for those first few essays in college!

Supplemental instruction, known to many students as SI, offers weekly study sessions for students in historically challenging courses. The sessions are lead by an SI instructor that has excelled in the course. SI’s are SO helpful and basically force you to study once a week. It is also a much easier setting to ask questions to an instructor rather than a teacher, making it much less intimidating. There are additional tips for students involving studying and handling stress online at class.uark.edu.

If your student feels as if they are slipping behind and need some help please encourage them to check out everything the Center for Learning and Student Success offers. Most of their resources are free of charge and are a great source of support for students.
