The Parent Partnership Association Book Scholarship is awarded annually to current University of Arkansas students whose parents play an active role in their time at the U of A, with preference given to students of PPA Cardinal Members. Recipients have demonstrated campus and community involvement, academic success, financial need and an understanding of the beneficial role parent/family members play in the college transition.

Gabby Kubas is Sophomore Biology major from Highland Village, Texas. She is in the Honors College at University of Arkansas and is a member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity of women, in addition to a member of the Pre-Dental club on campus. She enjoys participating in philanthropic service along side her sorority to help promote children’s literacy, and has been selected as an Honors College Ambassador for the 2013-2014 school year.
Lauren Wethington is a Sophomore Kinesiology major from Lawrence, Kansas. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and since joining, was elected to the leadership cabinet. She is involved in Student Mobilization, a non-denominational student ministry and a member of the Kinesiology Club. She has recently volunteered through the SPOONS program at Washington Regional Hospital. During high school, she participated in cross country and track, and since graduating, has continued to run recreationally, and is currently training for a marathon in mid-October.
Leah Miramontes is a Sophomore Civil Engineering major from Fort Worth, Texas. Leah is the VP Community Service Assistant for her sorority, Kappa Delta and Outreach Chair for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. She also serves as an ambassador for the College of Engineering and an undergraduate research assistant for a Geotechnical Engineering Professor. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family, in the outdoors, crafting or simply relaxing.
Sam Johnson is a Sophomore majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology and is from Olathe, Kansas. She is a proud and active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She also attends CRU regularly and enjoys volunteering at Make a Difference Day. She also loves to travel and has been on several mission trips as a young adult. She hopes to continue to travel in college through studying abroad and other mission oriented endeavors. After graduating, she plans on attending seminary. Her hope is to apply her sociology background as she begins to work in correctional facilities with primarily youth.
