It is easy for new students to get involved and stay connected with events happening at the University of Arkansas, but what about the families? It can be especially hard for families to feel connected because they are not physically on campus interacting with the community. The Razorback Family Networks, formally known as Regional Parents Club, are designed to help Razorback family members feel connected to the University of Arkansas.
Networking is a vital part of a student’s career, but they do not need to do it alone! The Razorback Family Networks are a platform where parents in the same area can network and get to know each other. New Student and Family Programs tries to host at least two Razorback Family Network events each semester. This gives parents and families the opportunity to meet other families and also enhance already formed connections with other families. Events hosted by the Razorback Family Networks include watch parties, picnics, care package assembly, and many others.
While most events do not have an attendance fee, there might be some throughout the semester that do. That information will be announced at the same time the event announcement goes up. The latest information can be found by going to family.uark.edu and clicking Razorback Family Networks in the side bar, then clicking on the Find A Network in Your Area icon. There you will be directed to the Facebook page corresponding to the area you would like to be a part of. You can also find us directly on Facebook at Parent & Family Programs under the Website tab by clicking the Regional Parents Club. More detailed instructions and links can also be found in the monthly Razorback e-newsletter that you can sign up for by clicking on the Stay Connected icon on the front page of the website.
The Parent and Family Association are always looking to find new family members to be Regional Parent Ambassadors. If you are an individual who thrives when placed in a leadership position being a Regional Parent Ambassador could be perfect for you! A Regional Parent Ambassador must have an undergraduate student who is enrolled full-time at the University of Arkansas and be a Cardinal Member of the Association. All specific details and the application can be found on family.uark.edu under the Find a Razorback Family Network icon. In order to attend Razorback Family Network events you do not need to be a Cardinal Member. Cardinal Membership is only required for those seeking a Regional Parent Ambassador Application. Details on Cardinal Memberships can be found on family.uark.edu under the Membership Levels tab. The networks are in locations in which the university has identified a high concentration of students from there, current network locations are Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Northeast Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas, San Antonio, St. Louis, and Tulsa. New locations will be announced in the monthly e-newsletter, so if there is not a Razorback Family Network in your area yet be sure to sign up for the e-newsletter to get information on any new locations.
Support your student, region, and the University of Arkansas by getting involved in a Razorback Family Network today!
